The Isle of Arran is Scotland in miniature with all the mountain challenges of the highlands packed into one small area. Taking advantage of cheap flights from Bristol to Glasgow, train and ferry, this trip offers true adventure on this wild Scottish island.
Run as a self-contained expedition with only public transport and their legs to rely on, the team will be based at the Glen Rosa campsite near the town of Brodick. This campsite is stunningly beautiful, located by the river in an unspoilt mountain valley but quite basic with only toilets and cold water on site.
The team will have to cook and manage for themselves under the watchful eye of our experienced instructors though Brodick provides shops, hot showers and a swimming pool. From here the granite mountains are easily accessible on foot where Goat Fell, Arran’s highest mountain awaits.
Other challenges are a two/three-day traverse of the mountains with a wild camp in the heart of the range, or the spectacular A’Chir ridge – one of Britain’s best rocky scrambles requiring the use of a rope. All camping and outdoor equipment is provided.
